New song: “43 Special”
Greetings! Although our drummer Steve currently has a busted wing, we are trying to stay creative, working on new songs for our 2nd record. Here’s a song we wrote earlier this year, called “43 Special.”
Greetings! Although our drummer Steve currently has a busted wing, we are trying to stay creative, working on new songs for our 2nd record. Here’s a song we wrote earlier this year, called “43 Special.”
As some of you know, our drummer Steve was injured in not one, but count ‘em, two, car crashes this year. Last week he had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, meaning no more rocking for at least four months. We’ve had to cancel a few shows we had planned, as well as a music video shoot for “Demyelination,” which was going to have hot girls pillow fighting. So really, we all lose.
But all is not lost. In the meantime, we’re writing some new tunes and recording some demos. We’ve got 6 in the bag so far, so by the time Steve’s all healed up our live show will have an almost all-new set list. We’re also up for placement in a national commercial for a major beverage company. So although we won’t be playing live for a while, we’re still keeping our rock muscles active. Ooh, dirty.
During the mixing of Panic Attack last year, Ikey Owens (Free Moral Agents, The Mars Volta) suggested that we do a twisted remix of Panic Attack. Well, a few weeks ago, a couple of us went to see Free Moral Agents at The Basement in Long Beach, and spinning that night was this cat named Thavius Beck. He has worked with Saul Williams (as have Davin and Ikey) and Trent Reznor, but it was his live show that had Michael J tweeting:
“Thavius Beck killin’ it at the basement right now”
After his set, Steve knew Thavius had the skillz to make a twisty remix of our twisty song. So approached Thavius, who was down, and the result is this:
Pretty crazy, right? But wait there’s more! Until July 1, you can download it for free here!
Big thanks to Thavius Beck for a sick remix. If you’re in LA, you can catch him spinning around town. And you should.
Here’s some video of us playing live at The Cellar in Long Beach for the Carnival du Corazon Haiti benefit on Feb. 28. Thanks to Shea Newkirk and Long Beach Party Project for helping to put on the show and shooting us!
This is going to be a great show at a great venue. We’ll be debuting a couple new tunes, so you definitely don’t want to miss this one. All ages, so bring your babies. Tickets are $10 presale, $15 at the door, so you should definitely get tickets ahead of time right here!

How did we miss this? Our Art Theatre show got written up in The OC Weekly. Here’s a link to the original story. Here’s what they had to say about our heavy metal bebop cover of Chick Corea’s “You’re Everything”:
Love it or hate it, the idea of spicing up the work of a mustachioed ’70s piano master with some heavy pop punk and art-kid angst has its artistic merits.

Our Dec 10th show at the Art Theatre in Long Beach was freaking fantastic. For the 200 or so of you who were there, thanks. If you weren’t there, live vicariously through these photos! (video coming soon)
Thanks to everyone who helped make the show so good: Eugene & The 1914, DeRock, Ben White, Be The Cause, LB Creative, Art Theatre, Art Du Vin, friends and family.
Photos and live recordings after the jump…
